UN Trade and Development, UNCTADstat.
The index was modified in September 2025 to now only take data from sources accessible through automated online extraction routines, leading to (in general) small differences in the index values. In September 2026, the year-on-year growth of the UNCTAD Commodity Price Index accelerated further, from 27.4% in August to 38.8%.
This acceleration was mainly driven by fuel prices, of which the growth rate rose sharply from 29.8% to 57.1%. At the same time, agricultural raw materials recorded a further increase in growth, from 14.5% to 17.1%.
Among the remaining commodity groups, food prices increased at a slightly faster pace, with the growth rate rising from 6.8% to 8.0%. By contrast, growth in minerals, ores and metals slowed down, declining from 31.8% in August to 21.6% in September.
